Valérie Grand’Maison is the coordinator of the Réseau de recherche sur les savoirs citoyens et les approches cocréatives – RéSCits (Research Network on Citizen Knowledge and Co-creative Approaches) and a doctoral student in sociology at the University of Guelph. Trained in public health, sociology, feminist studies, and disability studies, her research has focused since 2015 on participatory and transformative approaches that fully involve marginalized communities in social justice projects. Having worked in both academic and community sectors, Valérie has developed key skills in inclusive and emancipatory research practices. In her doctoral thesis, Valérie adopts an intersectional approach to explore connections between disability, gender-based violence, and mobilization strategies. She also draws on the lived expertise of diverse women with disabilities to understand how various social systems either limit or support individual and collective well-being.
